IS MEN’S SKIN REALLY DIFFERENT THAN WOMEN’S?
The obvious difference between men’s and women’s skin would be that men can grow a beard. However, there are much more differences than the naked eye can see. We will explain some points in more detail in this article.
Generally, men’s skin is 25% thicker than women. However, men’s skin gradually thins with age at a relatively constant rate, while women’s skin thickness stays relatively constant until menopause, after which women lose skin thickness drastically. Thus, it is obvious that thick and thin skin needs different type of products.
Men’s skin usually age much slower than women’s skin. It is said that a woman’s skin is 15 years older than a man’s skin of the same age. That’s why women tend to use face care products that tend to make aging slower, while men do not need these types of products.
Unlike women, the sebum production in male skin remains the same throughout their lifetime and does not decrease with age. Although men’s skin is more prone to acne break-outs, clogged pores, blackheads etc., it is easier to treat these problems in men using the appropriate medicines and health care products.
Generally, men sweat twice as much as women, and they are more prone to sweating. This causes men to have higher body temperature. However, men’s skin is better at hydration than women’s skin. So drink plenty of water.
All of these reasons are responsible for the differences in skin of men and women. As you already might have guessed, this is why men and women should use different types of products for their skin. Using the appropriate products will help them get better and healthier skin.
