As winter rolls in, guys get the chance to step up their game and flaunt their favorite menswear. From big knitwear to big overcoats, and countless layering options in between, it’s rather hard to go wrong in winter. Here are a few menswear trends for winter that you could take inspiration from.

Half and Half

Fusing two different pieces of clothing together is the new trend. For example, a half tuxedo and half denim jacket or a knitted pullover and shirt merged into one top. This clothing is also known as ‘fusion’ clothes or ‘hybrid’ garments. This clothing is a designer’s way of expressing that the modern man doesn’t only make binary decisions but can embrace different sides of his style.

 Fashionable Mac Coat

Named after the company who coined their iconic shape, Mackintosh, it’s truly hard to beat a Mac coat as a versatile cover up during winter. The reason Mac coats are great winter menswear is due to its splendid warmth factor alongside its ability to break the breeze and keeping off the rain from the clothes underneath. “A Mac is a great way to beat the elements without being puffy or padded. Go for a neutral color, as you’ll be able to pair it up with any look”, says Kent and Lime Stylist Brittney Ornelas.

Cardigans are great winter all-rounders and an essential men’s winter wardrobe staple. If you’re looking for a modern look, you could get something with a thick weave colored in a neutral tone, pairing it up with casual clothes and sneakers. Its unique collar makes it eligible to pair it up with T-shirts, shirts and polos.

Ribbed Knitwear

A textured weave knitwear makes for great winter menswear. A simple ribbed weave is warmer than other styles and looks amazing when paired with right outfits. “Whether you are a V-neck or crew neck guy, owning some quality knitted sweaters during Winter is essential”, says Ornelas, who works with online men’s retailer Kent and Lime. “Instead of reaching for a jumper or hoodie, layer them over your button-up shirts and under your sports/jackets and blazers to keep from looking sloppy this Winter.”

So bring out your inner stylish self by wearing one of these outfits this winter, and be the aspiration for your friends and the inspiration for others.
